Taking Constantine Seriously
Last night I tuned into American Idol for the first time this season, and I was reasonably surprised by how much better it seems this year. The REAL MUSICAL instruments impressed me as well. But really, who can take anyone named Constantine seriously?

Amazing Race Blogging - First Time for Everything
I have to admit, I'm not a fan of Amazing Race. My wife is, though, so while she watches, I browse the blogs or play a game of Civilization III or something. Tonight, I'm typing along on the PC, and The She Ogre is watching AR. The thing is, they're in Turkey tonight, and she keeps yelling, "I've BEEN THERE!"

So Close
Did you guys catch the amazing race? Phew! Rob and amber were so close to coming in last. Now that ron and kelly are without money, the cracks in their relationship will surely destroy them in the next leg of the race. That means that rob and amber will probably win it. Oh come on, the oldies are taking their own sweet time around the globe while uchenna and joyce aren’t sharp enough to beat rob and amber. But who knows, stranger things have happened…

Bollywood Comes to Oprah
Speaking of juicy things, my wildest dreams are coming true! Tomorrow, the Oprah Winfrey Show will be featuring the lusty Bollywood star…that’s right! Aishwarya Rai will come to rock American television airwaves again. I have an exclusive engagement with Oprah, so if any of you see any cute boys for me, tell them to get in the queue. I have a date with Oprah and Ash.

Great Line on Desperate Housewives
That was one of the great lines of the evening on Desperate Housewives as the story arc regarding Andrew's coming out unfolds. I'm really liking where this is going and it was a wonderful episode to showcase Marcia Cross's and Shawn Pyfrom's acting and the development of their characters. As Cross mentioned in a recent USA Today article, Bree is coming from a place of love, no matter how misguided it might be. Bree is not full of one-dimensional one liners like "and the word is not gay, it's sodomy." She really believes that Andrew will not go to heaven and that she cannot bare it if he wasn't there with her. Cross says the lines with such conviction that it's almost beautiful, even though, in real life, I would hate that message and hate Bree for saying it.

Clay Aiken Update
As the runner-up to Fox TV's second American Idol: The Search for a Superstar competition, vocalist Clay Aiken wowed television audiences in 2003 with his Southern charm, sweet demeanor, and bright, glorious voice, and became a pop star. Originally, Clay Aiken planned to try out for the reality TV series The American Race, but went ahead and auditioned for the talent contest to please an encouraging friend. Out of 7,000 hopefuls, the Charlotte, NC, native won the hearts of the judges as well as millions of fans across the globe.

The Amazing Race 7, Episode 6
This week's leg of The Amazing Race took place entirely in and around the Okavango Delta, an area of marshes without outlet, surrounded by desert. As the racers saw along the roads, that causes a rare density of large animals, especially in the dry season, and the area is the main tourist destination in Botswana. Maun is a small town, but it has ultra-luxury guest "lodges" nearby and international flights...

Why I Like The Apprentice
Ok, this I have to admit; reality TV is addictive. Possibly, it also dumbs down your senses. I know because I was watching The Apprentice while tremors were felt all over Malaysia from the quake in Sumatra the other night. And frankly, if it wasn't for the informative write up that were available in the newspapers the following day, I would have been as clueless as an American who asks "Isn't tsunami over already?"
The show actually inspires people to further embed themselves in the rat race and do what it takes to climb up the pyramid. At least, I was. I mean, what's the other option? Become a hippie or a bohemian artist? [Btw, please watch the Southpark episode on hippies. Being someone from the Arts stream, I felt deeply confronted, ahem]. In other words, The Apprentice is a kick ass capitalist campaign that has deep and far reaching capacities.

"Smallville" Goes Down the Tubes
I'm generally not a fan of teenage dramas, but having caught up with all the episodes of "Lost", "24" and "CSI", and feeling badly in need of some distraction that didn't require either thought or coming home reeking of cigarettes, I decided to give "Smallville" a try; the way I saw it, at the very least it would be interesting to see if something worthwhile could be done with a superhero who's always had the curious problem of being so powerful and level-headed that there's just never been that much to do...

Weighty Study Shakes Up Body Image
George Armelagos, an anthropologist at Emory University, calls this shift the King Henry VIII and Oprah Winfrey Effect. In Tudor England, it took hundreds of gardeners, farmers, hunters and butchers to keep Henry VIII fat. In America today, anyone can bulk up without help, but it takes a new set of vassals - personal trainer, nutritionist, private chef - to keep Oprah from looking like Henry VIII.

American Idol or Nashville Star?
At the urging of Leann (and with a little nudging from my friend Kristin) I finally tuned in about 3 weeks ago and I immediately got a sense of why the network is promoting the show so heavily - because it's good. And I don't just mean "good" as in it's entertaining for an hour, I mean it's really good. It's better than 90% of the shows on network television, American Idol included. So why hasn't it been picked up by struggling ABC or NBC? Don't the TV execs know that country music is a bigger demographic than Pop or Rock? Apparently...

American Idol Finalists Release Single to Benefit American Red Cross
The finalists on the fourth season of "American Idol" will release "When You Tell Me That You Love Me" as a 19 Recordings/RCA Records single on April 19. RCA and 19 Entertainment will donate to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund $.50 for every CD sold and $.21 for every digital download sold.
The viewers of Fox-TV's massively popular "American Idol" series decided which song would be released as a charity single by voting online for their favorite among three choices. So many viewers cast votes that all three songs will be included on the single.
The lead track, "When You Tell Me That You Love Me," was a No. 2 hit for Diana Ross in the United Kingdom in 1991. The song is the biggest Diana Ross hit in the last 18 years. Written by John Bettis and Albert Hammond, the song was also recorded as a duet between Julio Iglesias and Dolly Parton. The version by the "American Idol" finalists was produced by Desmond Child and includes vocals by the top 12 contestants: Bo Bice, Lindsey Cardinale, Anthony Fedorov, Mikalah Gordon, Constantine Maroulis, Anwar Robinson, Scott Savol, Jessica Sierra, Vonzell...

Fans Increasingly Download Pirated TV Shows
Not a top ranking Smallville probably wants. The 10 most popular pirated TV downloads worldwide are: “24,” “Stargate Atlantis,” “The Simpsons,” “Enterprise,” “Stargate SG-1,” “The O.C.,” “Smallville,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Battlestar Galactica,” and “Lost,” according to a February survey by Envisional, cited in the report. Much of the downloading occurs overseas, especially in the English-language United Kingdom, where shows aren’t usually broadcast until months after they’ve aired in the United States.

The Apprentice - Week 13
Click through for the rest.So it's all come down to Tana and Craig (street smarts) versus Kendra and Alex (book smarts). I'm guessing that Alex will be the next to go. The only reason he didn't get the boot last night is that he argued more skillfully than Bren. The Donald seemed particularly impressed by the fact that Alex had studied in Israel. I felt kind of bad for Bren. But it seemed like he had enough of the Apprentice. He said as much in the cab ride confession.
Craig? Fail? I beg to differ.

Desperation Is a Stinky Perfume
Since we're still waiting for new Gilmore Girls episodes, and we haven't gotten into this season of The Amazing Race, there hasn't been much television to watch. Then, a few weeks ago, we were home on a Saturday night and turned on the TV. ABC was showing back-to-back reruns of Desperate Housewives. We watched it, and thought the show was pretty decent. Not great, but decent. Then we watched it the next night. And the following week. And the following. And now we're hooked.

Anwar Out
After Tuesday's `70s disco-themed "American Idol," Anwar Robinson failed to stay alive on Wednesday night's show.
Despite being earlier hailed by judge Paula Abdul as technically this season's best singer, the dreadlocked Robinson received the fewest votes and was sent home, narrowing the field of contestants to just six.
In his performance Tuesday, Robinson sang Earth, Wind and Fire's "September." Judge Simon Cowell's assessment proved prophetic.
"I don't think it was a winning performance," Cowell said.

Apparently Boston Legal has been renewed for a second season... but the catch is that the remaining 5 episodes for this season will not be aired until the fall... the final episodes will jump start into the second season, which means a total of 27 new episodes next season. Watching With New Friends
Just got back from TARCon West! It was so much fun watching The Amazing Race with a bar full of people who are as crazy about the show as I am. Everyone was very friendly – a bunch of people I didn’t know asked me to sit with them right away and everyone talked and mingled all night liked old friends. The buttons I had made up were a big hit too. I brought my camera but ended up not taking too many pictures. I thought I’d taken more of the TWoPers (That’s short for “people who post on the Television Without Pity web site") but not only did I take less than I thought but it seems like the only ones that really came out were of the racers. That’s right – we got to watch the Amazing Race finale with people who’d actually been on the race!

American Idol 4: April 13 Results
When the voting was over, the next Idol whose future was ended on the media franchise of American Idol was Nadia Turner. She had given a stunning performance the first week in the top twelve arrangement but never matched it in subsequent performances. However, I honestly think that Scott Savol should have gone before her, regardless of my opinions of his character. Have a good career Nadia; and get off the show, Scott.

'Loser' In The Spotlight
If there’s one thing “The Biggest Loser” finalist Kelly Minner avoids, it’s the scale.
“I don’t want to be slave to that scale again,” said Minner, a Pennsylvania teacher who will appear at the Weekend of Wellness in Newberry starting today.
Minner lost 79 pounds and placed third in the NBC reality series, where 12 contestants vied to see who would lose the most weight.
But simply losing weight isn’t what Minner wants. She knows better — scales can vary, as can a person’s water and muscle weight.
What’s most important to her is how she feels.

Amazing Race ... To Be Continued
I watched Amazing Race last night. I was so disappointed at the end when we got the "to be continued...". I'm sure Amber and Rob were disappointed too since they both looked exhausted. I thought it wasn't smart of Kelly/Ron to not yield Rob/Amber. They are the strongest team. Take them out when you have the opportunity!
I thought it was really cute how Meredith/Gretchen were like stars to the local people. Very sweet. I was also happy to see that the women didn't seem to have a problem in India like in the previous Amazing Races. The detour task looked nearly impossible. I'm surprised all 5 of the teams chose to do it. I wonder how long it actually took to complete that task. Anyway, I'll be tuning in next week to find out who comes in last. It's really going to stink if it is Meredith/Gretchen and it is a non elimination...

Makeover Good For Everyone
I've seen more than a few episodes of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition". They select a particularly needy family, usually facing some sort of hardship with a disabled child or something equally devastating, and they either remodel or completely rebuild their home to accommodate whatever problems the family faces. It's a feel good show, and while I'm sure the networks make a profit, it is nice to witness such charity.

Who's going to get Hired?
Without a doubt, I would hire Kendra as the apprentice. Her ability to strategize and execute is second to none. While Stephanie was the project manager during the golf task, her (Kendra's)idea to market to surrounding vendors in the area was instrumental to Magna winning. In fact, whether she has been project manager or not she has been instrumental in many of Magna's wins. When Magna was faltered on the Burger King task she could have jump on the bandwagon and gone with everyone and said Danny deserved to be fired. But she didn't, she went ahead...
I work at a Pontiac dealership and the brochure that Kendra put together is outstanding. If Kendra does not get to bet the Apprentice, GM should hire her to do all of their promotional pieces.
So who would conquer the interviews? Kendra besides for having a real estate business, was on a weekly talk radio show. She's excellent at marketing and is methodical and intelligent in her approach. She is mature (there is a deleted scene that is on the Apprentice website this week where she approached Craig to try and work their challenges out).
Every time she leads in a task, it almost seems like that team is guaranteed a win. She just crushes the competition. Time and time again as a team player she has crafted ways for her team to win. When she is the project manager she drives them home to victory. As a team player and project manager her ideas seem to never be challenged because she articulates the information to her teammates in such a manner that they have no other alternative but to implement the idea (most times they cannot think of a better idea). Its a no brainer Kendra is...

Reality [Show] Check

I Watch Scrubs
Instead I try to define myself from what I think of life. Because I do a lot of thinking, probably too much, which is because I’m alone most of the time andgot noone else to talk to but myself (myself agrees a lot)… Anyway, this hasn’t really been an issue until now… or rather, I havent seen it as one. Today I found myself watching 4 episodes of what is my favourite series at the moment (Scrubs), when I understood what was going on.

Carrie Should Win
I haven't commented on American Idol lately because I'm so bored with it. I literally fast forward through the whole thing (GLORIOUS TIVO) because I hate everyone so much. I think Carrie will probably win. Why Scott Savol is still there is beyond me. Someone needs to tap him on the shoulder too and tell him he's white. A big fat white guy. "I'm just trying to keep it real" Um, really? Aren't you from like Ohio?

American Idol Results - Week 8 - Performance Show
This is the 8th week and 8 singers remain. Is this a sign of good things to come? Probably not. After all, it IS still American Idol.
American Idol Official Website
Drum roll, please...tonight's theme is (Ryan's showing baby pictures) songs from the year you were born. This could be very entertaining or truly horrible.

Worked Out Just Right
Watched Survivor with Pat when she arrived since she's a Survivor fan also. She was wondering what was happinging with the lone Stephanie (the only member of Koror left). So while we're watching I'm like I can't stand Colby he's gotta go and with the way he's been acting so cocky, sure enough the rest of the people agreed and he got voted off. Now next to go should be Janu then Jenn.......I'm cheering for Mr. Tom but love Stephanie, Ian and Caryn. Let's see what happens! As far as The Amazing Race I really think Rob and Amber are the best competitors...

Why Amazing Race is the Best
The Amazing Race is the best of the reality series on the air, because it’s less of a contrived political backstabbing festival – which makes the rare appearance of politics and betrayal all the more entertaining – and more like a travel show broken up by obstacle courses. Sure, the producers meddle in the game, especially in arranging the flight times so that the race clock is reset once per episode, but it’s not as obtrusive as other shows.

The Home Depot Puts On A Marketing Clinic
So perhaps it comes as no surprise that an organization of this pedigree would shame the other Apprentice sponsors – Domino’s Pizza, Unilever (Dove), Burger King and Nestle (Taster’s Choice) among them – by being the only one to completely recognize, and act upon, the juicy brand-building opportunities presented by the show. With thoughtful preparation, Home Depot became the sole sponsor to fully integrate the actual happenings on its episode with an in-store promotion that squarely aligned with and promoted the crystal-clear HD brand promise and tagline of “You Can Do It. We Can Help.”

Why I Still Don't Like Oprah
Other women: Why are we letting self-hate rule us? Aren’t we stronger and better enough today not to listen to the likes of Oprah Winfrey and this star or that star? A man who does not accept you as you are is WRONG for you. You have to find worth without a man before you can enjoy that worth with a man.

The Amazing Race Round-Up
Ron and Kelly continue to get on my nerves in this episode of The Amazing Race. They just don't communicate well with each other and Kelly is the biggest whiner that I've ever seen. Ugh...please, somebody put me out of my misery. And, then, they were total idiots by not yielding Rob and Amber when they had a chance. Seriously, do they not think Rob and Amber would have yielded them if the shoes were on the other feet?

Smallville returns tonight after a decent hiatus and we want you to review it for us. We'll handle the cool screen captures but you provide the words. The best review will win $100 via PayPal. It should be an exciting return to form tonight with Lex being split in two by a kryptonite explosion. And we all can guess at how evil his evil side will be. Make the review concise but add thoughtful commentary too. Tell us how this impacts the series as a whole and how it ranks compared to past episodes. Length should be 250-800 words and the deadline for...

Turner off American Idol
Nadia Turner picked the wrong song on Tuesday's "American Idol," and on Wednesday, she paid the price. Turner was voted off the Fox show after singing Crystal Gayle's "When I Dream," a choice that the judges lambasted.
"It was an appalling choice of song and I think you could go home after that," said judge Simon Cowell, adding that it was the musical equivalent of wallpaper.

How Much Longer For Bobby Jon?
Well, it was the Worst Week Ever for pretty boys on the island... as an increasingly skeletal looking Bobby Jon got knocked out of Survivor... as Ulong continued its winless streak in immunity challenges. What do you think will happen next week? Do you think they will just have Stephenie compete in an immunity challenge with Koror and if she doesn't win, she's out?? Have to give the show credit for surprising us and just letting the Ulongs disappear without an emergency/intervention tribe merger.
Am I the only one who feel that they don't even know some of the members of Koror? I see some of the women every week and I honestly could not tell you their names! I don't think we have ever got this far into a season, where I feel that I do not have clue about some of the participants... but you only get to really know them once the mental game begins... and with only one trick tribal council, Koror hasn't yet had to start scheming.
Alas, we will probably be bidding a Fine Wine adieu to Bobby Jon soon... but I will let him hang on for a few more days.

The Amazing Race 7, week 7, part 1
Survivor duo Rob & Amber led the pack out of the Pit Stop in Botswana as the teams were to fly in stages to Lucknow, India, making their own arrangements for the Mumbai-to-Lucknow leg. The Survivors made common cause with POW/beauty queen Ron & Kelly as Rob obtained flight info and tickets on the sly and asked the clerk not to share the info with the other three teams. For the life of me, I do not understand why competitors leave Rob alone even to use the bathroom. Rob got this opening solely because those other teams were engaged in their...
Once in Lucknow, teams had to make their way by open-air taxis to the palace called Bara Imambara (which means "dwelling place of the holy Imam," incidentally), there to don traditional headscarves (or caps if you prefer, though Rob did both) and then find their clue. The instructions tasked teams with traveling by tonga (a horse-drawn carriage) to a steel emporium (a place that sells metal items such as tin boxes, apparently)...
The task at the emporium was a Roadblock: one team member had to search among the steel boxes for the next clue. Kelly rather tried to make an alliance with Amber to find the clue, but that would hardly have worked out as the clues were all scattered among the boxes. Amber promptly found her clue and made tracks, leaving Ron to rue not having Yielded the Survivors when he had the chance. With weak-minded competition like this, it's no wonder Rob & Amber have pretty much had their way in this contest.
The Survivors were first to snag their clue, which should have instructed them to head for the Pit Stop. The clue was oddly worded, however, as Amber noticed: it did not mention the phrase "Pit Stop," but merely told them to meet host Phil Keoghan on a rooftop. You can guess the rest: this was not the end of the leg, but merely another relay. "You're still racing," Phil informed the Survivors with a smirk of his own.

There Had to be One!
It's a shame really - a homosexual on one of the nation's top reality TV shows is "outed" and I just don't care. In fact, I wish the outing never occurred - don't make me watch "American Idol!" But since I'm the self-professed "guru" of gay TV, I guess I really should be watching. The problem? "American Idol" is on almost every night! Who has time to watch all this crap? Certainly not moi! Tell you what - if dear Anwar gets to the top five, I'll start watching. Until then, he's on his own! Good luck sweetie - sing for Mommy!

Our Ratings, Ourselves
All I know is an episode of Desperate Housewives makes me feel ready for the next week of work. One of the great contradictions of modern American life is that almost everyone watches television while almost no one agrees anymore about what it really means to watch television. True, we know that as spring gets under way, new episodes of ''Desperate Housewives'' and ''C.S.I.'' and ''American Idol'' will battle for prime-time supremacy in the overnight Nielsen ratings. We also know that local broadcast stations around the country will begin scheming -- just as they do every April -- to win the May sweeps, the tense weeks when rival stations pursue a fierce one-upmanship of flamboyance and hype and the Nielsen-measured audience sizes determine future advertising rates. But when it comes to figuring out how many of us are watching these shows, and whether we're paying attention while we're watching and even whether we're actually noticing the advertisements among the shows we may or may not be watching -- well, this is where things get tricky.

Boston Legal Season Over
Even though Boston Legal has been officially picked up for next season, it will give way to Grey's Anatomy with five episodes left unaired. These episodes will air next season which will make the total for next season's episodes 27. Grey's Anatomy has averaged about 5 million more viewers than Legal, and it seems that ABC wants this momentum to continue through the May Sweeps.

I also really like Tom and Ian. I had to laugh at Ian saying that he had to one up Tom by catching a blue whale next. lol I really felt bad for Janu. She is so tiny and I'm sure treading water for that period of time is exhausting. Anyone else a little tired of Katie?
I really couldn't get over Jennifer being miffed that Gregg has "his head in the game". Hello? It's a game!!! It isn't Love Connection. I thought maybe she was just young, but I just checked the CBS website and it says she is 32.

So the first show; Paul plants a tree on One Tree Hill. Well actually, he just stands around and watches someone else do the planting while being patronising. Boston Legal Any Way Possible, Please
I am so sleepy today. I stayed up a little late last night to watch the television series, The Practice. Right now in Japan, we are watching the final season of the series. Yesterday's episode had Allan Shore (James Spader) changing the locks on the firm and removing some financial records in preparations for a TRO hearing. William Shatner was brilliant as Danny Crane (or is it 'Krane'?). I am trying to come to some resolution with the series as I know it will end and then, start up again as 'Boston Legal'.
I sure hope SkyPerfect will pick up "Boston Legal" for us. If not, I'll have to order the DVD packs when they become available and at a cheap price.

What Is The Fate of 'Boston Legal'
The new ABC drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” which has proved a strong Sunday night partner for “Desperate Housewives,” will keep its time slot and cut short the season for “Boston Legal.”
“Grey’s Anatomy,” about first-year surgical interns at a Seattle hospital, debuted March 27 and improved on the ratings in the 10 p.m. ET Sunday time slot that had belonged to “Boston Legal.”
No word on where BOSTON LEGAL will land next season, though. ::sigh::
I’m hoping the extra episodes will help stop the on again/off again scheduling of Boston Legal that had me losing interest in it this year.
I don’t know if I ever really felt like the DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES/BOSTON LEGAL pairing worked all that well.

California First Lady Maria Shriver said Friday that she would prefer Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger not run for president. “I want him back home, actually,” Shriver said on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” when asked about the possibility of Schwarzenegger’s running for the top office if the U.S. Constitution allowed it. Shriver’s comments raised questions about whether she was encouraging her husband not to seek reelection in 2006. Extreme Home Makeover
Put together one very run-down house, a deserving family, several opinionated designers, seven days and what do you get? The answer is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
The first season of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was able to bring extreme happiness to several families. Some of those projects included enlarging the home of a couple expecting triplets, rebuilding a house for eight children who had just lost their parents, giving a facelift to an entire community whose homes were flooded during a hailstorm, and remodeling the living space of a wheelchair-bound young man by making it more accessible — which included the installation of an elevator. In addition the makeover team did a special live episode, during which they remodeled the New York apartment of two firefighters — in just 12 hours!
Who knew Kermit and Miss Piggy had a knack for design? Extreme Makeover: Home Edition – along with the help of a special team of Muppets – gives a home makeover to the family of America’s first-ever set of surviving African American sextuplets.
I spent a few days on the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition “set” a few weeks ago, while they were in Phoenix. No, not as a goober in the stands, but on the set working with some people.

Funny Lines From Ellen
* The 1960s were when hallucinogenic drugs were really, really big. And I don't think it's a coincidence that we had the shows then like The Flying Nun.--Ellen DeGeneres
* In the beginning there was nothing. God said, "Let there be light!" And there was light. There was still nothing, but you could see it a whole lot better.--Ellen DeGeneres

Desperate Weight Control
Oh lord, I'm going on a diet tomorrow. So for my last supper I'm having a burger, fries, and cake for dessert. Then I'm going to watch Desperate Housewives and during the entire episode, I'm going to envision my head on Eva Longoria's body.

Better Incentives for Shows Like One Tree Hill
For example, the WB television series, One Tree Hill, which spends about $1.5 million an episode, would get $225,000 back for each show. That's a lot of money, but not compared to losing the series altogether, said McComas, who filed the House bill. Boseman filed the Senate version. "You save 15 percent (without incentives)," he said. "But if there's nothing, it's not going to cost us anything because 15 percent of nothing is nothing."

Harvard Has Smallville Special Interest Group
The national media may have made a joke out of the idea that Harvard students need to have planned fun, but it’s true. If a HRSFen is interested in something—say Smallville, or making funny commentary as bad movies are played (an activity known as Mystery Science Theater 3000, or MST3K), or board games—he or she can propose the formation of a SIG (Special Interest Group). SIGs gather weekly to engage in their special-interest activities, and if they grow, they grow. And if no one comes, they die.

L'Oreal Commercial Copied in The Apprentice
On the heels of the controversial "firing" of "Street Smarts" Project Manager Kristen Kirchner on NBC's hit reality series, The Apprentice 3, an alleged copycat of the commercial produced by her losing team is being used by L'Oreal to promote Mennen Sport, their bodywash for men sold in France. According to Kirchner, the characteristics of the thirty second spots are too similar for coincidence, including the storyline of a marathon runner lathering-up with bodywash mid- race and crossing the finish line first and the funky music soundtrack. This is the first time in the show's history that such a bold, unauthorized duplication of an idea originated by the cast has surfaced.

NFL on FOX analyst Aikman, American Idol's Gracin to Highlight NASCAR Race
"We're excited about making history as two household names in America - Troy Aikman and George Lopez - team up to uniquely deliver the exciting command to start the Samsung/RadioShack 500," Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage said. "A few years ago, the Samsung/RadioShack 500 became the first NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race to be broadcast on the radio in Spanish. And to have Samsung's Peter Skarzynski drop the green flag shortly after American Idol finalist Josh Gracin performs the National Anthem should have the race fans buzzing. It's going to be a great start to a great day."

The Chris
when i was in florida back in february my grand father coined a new nickname for me. while channel surfing we stumbled upon a rerun of the apprentice, my grandpa joked that someday i was going to be rich and famous just like donald trump (which incidentally i have 0 aspirations for), and that i’d be looking down on gr from chris towers. i laughed and said i should probably start telling people to call me “the chris” now so that when that happened there wouldn’t need to be any awkward transition to my new trumpesque moniker.
