Better Than Drugs
I am going to get me some of that tea Libby gotta check that out for sure. I cannot believe I haven’t taken my meds today my daily regimen of benzos.. what and I am not feeling any withdrawls at the moment! Yay for me. Bet I swallow them down before bed, but I have to stay up and watch last weeks episode of Desperate Housewives. That is my show! I am so glad they show the previous episode on Saturdays because the last 2 Sundays its usual night for those that don’t watch it, I have missed due to a road trip for my daughter. But that is okay makes for a better weekend a Saturday and Sunday dose, hopefully I can stay up for it tomorrow because I want to stay on track and not depend on saturday night.

Review: House Of Wax
A remake. A movie with Paris Hilton. House of Wax is a remake starring Paris Hilton, Elisha Cuthbert, and that annoying dude from that WB show One Tree Hill [Chad Michael Murray]. I don't know why I rented this in the first place. With the exception of Elisha Cuthbert, the cast doesn't really make my list of favourite actors. I really wanted to hate this movie but I didn't. I was surprised with House of Wax. While none of the actors are going to be winning Oscars anytime soon, the story wasn't as horrible as I was expecting. A group of college students are going to a football game and end up camping out overnight on the way to the game. Some weird things happen and wouldn't you know it, one of their cars won't start. A couple of the kids end up in this weird town with a wax museum where the statues are made of people [just like Soylent Green - it's people]. More weird things happen and a killer is on the loose looking for a new wax model. Guess what happens next? While I don't think I can quite recommend this movie, it was entertaining enough to view from start to finish with a few scares.

Panama Red
Finally, as promised, the Amazing Race ended up leaving the USA. Teams embarked on planes and headed to sunny Panama. Something about the teams in another country really made it feel like the ‘ole Amazing Race again - thank you for giving back my show. The language barriers and the strange sights are really what make this show. I love hearing the teams yell “Vomanos! Vomanos!”, “Senor!”, and “Yo Queiro Taco Bell!” - just to have the cab driver reply in perfectly fine English “Yes, sounds good…”. Regardless, it made for an exciting show and one which made me know that there’s still hope for this season’s Amazing Race.

Where's Waldo?
But, I must be honest, the only reason I Googled Ralph Waldo Emerson is because I heard him quoted on Boston Legal last night. Who says TV cant be educational!

Leftovers
I was watching The Biggest Loser last night. I like that show. Don't ask me why, but I like it. What I don't get is why did I weep when they sent Pete home? I don't get it. (He's cool though, kept losing weight after he went home and in total lost like 126 pounds. Great stuff)

Reality Check
The good thing about MTV is that they are constantly repeating there shows. Since I do not always get to watch them at night because I am doing homework or am to tired, this is a great advantage. Some shows are competitions where people or families win a lot of money. Fear Factor, The Amazing Race, and The Biggest loser are just a few. On other shows like The Bachelor/Bachelorette and Trading Spaces you have the chance to meet your significant other or redo your home. Reality TV has become a big success and it is quite certain that it is going to be around for a while.

Amazing Race Fans
Something was up with Team Schroeder this go around with the daughter freaking out at every turn possible… and I mean every turn possible. She went from being a cool-headed laid back girl, to a high-stressed, freaked-out, panic-button-broken teenage nightmare. Nothing really catastrophic happened to the team to cause young miss Schroeder go off the wall, but just seemed grumpy - it did not help their cause. Regardless, (and I love how I cheer on my sofa when someone starts crying…), they racked up a ton of points with their fighting, whining, and crying. Their antics proved to be a profitable point pursuit, but alas, they finished last, and good ole’ Phil let them know they were eliminated.Click through for much, much more.

On The Farm Again
Yesterday, I split wood. So, obviously, I feel right at home back on the farm. Here I was trying to be a Sunday morning slug lounging on the couch through an episode of “Trading Spaces” (which just bites since Ty jumped ship to “Extreme Makeover, Home Edition”). But, nope. No can do. Dad came in and said he needed some help with the wood pile, and I got to spend a good hour working out with a wood splitter and eye protection. Ah, the joys of the farm.

Production Problems
When you post your update, submit it with the submit button on the top of the left hand column!Apologies to anyone who expected my recap of last week's episode of The Amazing Race to show up, uh, last week. I dutifully watched the show, made copious notes, and then found myself without a sufficiently long block of time in which to write the friggin' thing.

TV Tragedy
Television is still proving to be the new "movies." Movies are proving to be . . . well, just plain bad. TELEVSION makes life pretty: Nip/Tuck, Lost, Arrested Development, Rome, EXTRAS. Last season I watched the following: The OC, The Apprentice, Amazing Race. ALL OF WHICH ARE UNWATCHABLE this season. I can't wait to watch the tragedy that is THE L WORD. 3rd season should be a charm.

She's On The Apprentice
I was reading the comments of a Volokh Conpiracy post when I saw a name I recognized, a girl I knew from a summer program during high school. Didn’t really date her, more like a middle school pseudo-going-steady thing that went south quickly. So, curious whether she had become a lawyer, I hit Google… Where I found out that she’s on The Apprentice.

Amazing Race 8: Leg 3
Who would’ve thought that the Aiello family will be the one to be eliminated in the Leg 3 of The Amazing Race 8: Family Edition. Not me. I had rooted for the Paolo family to be eliminated since day 1. Wrong decision and lack of will to win cost the Aiello family this race.

Not-so Amazing Race
In a perfect world someone may be able to pick the best possible three racers and come away with the most amazing stretch of points. It’s extremely unlikely - but possible nonetheless. It were to happen I would be shocked, and surprised. Needless to say, when the REVERSE happens, when someone picks the WORST possible three picks, I am equally surprised, and in this specific instance - just outright shocked! Yes my Amazing Race friends, yours truly, after only three episodes, has no picks left. My combo of Black, Rogers, and Aiello seemed to be a winning formula… but alas, I am proven wrong. Black dropped out the first episode after looking weaker than a grocery bag full of lead, Rogers took a wrong turn and were never heard from again, and Aiello were knee deep in mud - literally - and sunk from existence. What I am happy to demonstrate is that I am not a cheater! I did not construct this pool simply so that I could win it all - it is purely for the love the Race - ya right, I wanted the $155!

Reality Show Whore™
I’ll tell you one thing though—nobody could possibly be happier if NBC started providing TV content on iTunes than yours truly. As a veteran Reality Show Whore™, being able to subscribe to the series of The Biggest Loser and Martha’s and Donald’s Apprentices (c’mon, you know they’re good) without having to fiddle with my eyeTV and fluctuating show times could just about seal the deal for me to both get a video iPod and consider cancelling my cable. The possibilities are endless..

I Am Funny
I'm purely a sit-down comic. At my best, I'm horizontal, well fed, and post-orgasm. Put me in a living room of friends & family & strangers & pets and I become a mix of Lewis Black, Richard Pryor, and Stephen Hawking. Add a large quantity of alcohol and I'm a lewd combination of Eddie Griffin and Ellen Degeneres.

I Totally Forgot About Apple Today!
So I rushed to my computer and pulled up the news. A new, thinner, 30G and 60G iPod. I guess now dubbed fifth generation? This new iPod has the same sleek lines of its little buddy, the nano, but still disk based. In addition, the also released iTunes 6.0. This is just 5 weeks after they released iTunes 5.0. I haven’t had a chance to download the newest version to see if it makes finding podcasts difficult again. There were some hiccups when iTunes 5 was released. The new iTunes has the video features. Disney and Apple have agreed to make episodes of Lost, Desperate Housewives, Nightstalker in addition to That’s So Raven and The Suite Life, both from the Disney Channel. You will be able to download the new episodes the day after it airs and costs a mere $1.99 per episode. I’m hoping this means I can take all my Divx mpeg movies and somehow convert them to play in iTunes. Imagine, being able to watch Stargate SG1 or porn (just kidding) anywhere!

Clay Aiken
Yesterday I gave in and bought Clay Aiken’s CD, Measure of a Man on Amazon, as it’s not been released in Brazil yet and God only knows when it will be - if ever. What can I say, I absolutely love his voice and his songs, not to mention the fact that the folks at American Idol turned him into this gorgeous hottie in the outside, aroud the already beautiful person he already was on the inside. I have been a fan of him from the first audition on, long before the “makeover” thing. I will still have to wait another month before I can hear the CD, though, as the estimated delivery date is November 16!!! This estimate made me realize I should have ordered the Christmas album as well… Too late now.

Unamazing Race
I seldom watch TV, although a little more since the convenience of the PVR. I’m not big on reality shows (I think they should fire Martha Stewart instead of the other way around), but I have enjoyed The Amazing Race from time to time. Oh boy did they butcher it this season though.

Observations on the Biggest Loser
I watched a full episode of The Biggest Loser last night while pedaling on my mini-bike after dinner. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but I feel a bit ambivalent about the weight loss numbers the players were posting. It just doesn’t seem right to be sad that you ONLY lost 5 lbs in a week. No wonder there are so many impatient n00bs who get frustrated 2 weeks into any plan.

Smallville Soundtrack
If you have ever watched a single episode of Smallville, one of my favorite shows, then you’ve heard all the great music they use. Warner Bro. put out a soundtrack for Smallville February 25, 2003. It was called “The Talon Mix
” but also on the cover was “Volume 1″ so a short time later myself and others were waiting for Volume 2. Well they have finally set a date for release, November 8, 2005. It is called “The Metropolis Mix
.”

Download It
So now it’s down to watching downloaded commercial-free episodes of The Apprentice, Curb Your Enthusiasm, or maybe Kitchen Confidential. Even the usually solid Office hasn’t been doing it for me this year. Basically what I’m getting at is that TV brings me nothing but feelings of disappointment when I watch it live. So I won’t do it anymore.

Boston Legal
Boston Legal, one of my favorite series (what would you expect from a law student?) has recently season premiered. And was it good? Hell it wasn’t simply good – it was great. This series is humorous and always dead on. The man and television genious behind the series is David E. Kelly. You might have seen Boston Public? No? Ally Mcbeal, then? Thought so, and if you liked that wicked, humorous series, then you will love this one.

One Tree Hill Returns
The long-awaited third season of One Tree Hill has finally arrived. Been waiting for almost 6 months for it when the second season ended in a sensationally abrupt but nail-biting scene when Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) confessed his feelings for Brooke but she had to leave Tree Hill for the summer. The first installment of the new season was pretty much brief flashbacks of what happened during the summer, an old but common trick used by the directors/creators of One Tree Hill. However, it was still quite a satisfying opening to the season. By the way Hilarie Burton’s new look is just so hot. Been picturing her new look since One Tree Hill initially started.

All The President's Women
The West Wing is a parallel universe to TV's Wisteria Lane: instead of self-indulgent desperate housewives wary of sexy nannies, there are self-sacrificing, buttoned-up nannies serving as adoring work wives, catering to W.'s every political, legal and ego-affirming need.
