Reality Marathon
Tonight, to counter my hatred of being home alone, I invited a friend over for dinner and we embarked on a reality tv blitz. I have just sat through 3 hours of The Biggest Loser followed by the first episode of Big Brother 6. Shocking I realise, but oh so good. My biggest shock so far on BB6 is Katie, or as we have now christened her: Train Wreck. She is frightening. I have never seen anyone appear to be so dim (and I am even including Dubya). I only hope that it is mostly a result of nerves or that girl is in real trouble.

Meeting Cal Reqs
I am still doing pretty good reaching my protein, carb and fat requirements and staying very close to my cal requirements. I feel it is better to be under than over and yesterday I was quite a bit under so I enjoyed two scoops of choc. protein w/1c of skim milk and a banana while I watched the biggest loser. SOOOO Good.....

Evil
Everyone who had done this workout said it hurt, I took a look at it the other day and though “sure I can do that” - yeah right! The Biggest Loser Workout is officially evil! I hate it and I love it all at the same time and that was just LOW impact cardio. The lunges, the squats, the the everything, it hurts. Goodness knows what the neighbours were thinking because they were some very strange noises and a fair few cuss words coming from my direction, especially during the squats. When he makes you stay low and hold your hands out in front of you for like an hour lol. I have never yelled so much at the TV in my life. The upside? I was in so much agony I didn’t notice that I’d done 30 minutes exercise! Woohoo! I feel good. Now it’s over with.

Meat Your Maker
Y’know how there’s those food facts people gleefully let loose… things you really didn’t want to know? I’m not talking about bullshit like KFC serving rabbit, but queasy facts that put you off your dinner quicker than Channel 10’s bright idea for Monday-to-Friday primetime viewing (an Australian version of The Biggest Loser? Five nights a week? Do I really need daily updates on what flabby, wobbly, sweating, grunting hefty folk have been doing all day while I tuck into my meat and veg?)

I Love TV Marathons
Like in the last week I have seen two whole seasons of America’s Next Top Model, and an entire season of The Biggest Loser 2. And its amazing. I dont even have to be sick and couch bound to get sucked in, if Im just flipping through channels and see one odds are four hours later I will still be sitting there…Like the time Kim and I and a few other folks watched the entire episode of Boy meets Boy, and tried to predict which ones were gay and which ones were straight…

Losing It At Christmas
HotHubby and I bought a new digital camera on sunday. It’s really one of my christmas presents but legally more of a *COUGH* Tax Write Off *COUGH*… I am in love with it…. but am currently trying to figure out how to get HotHubby to classify the camera as a business expense and not my present as I’ve been DROOLING over new rollerblades for weeks and I could really use the exercise. Speaking of which, I’ve also preordered the Biggest Loser Workout DVD, I reallllly want it for Xmas.

We Have A Loser
If you blog about TV, submit your post to Blog Carnival with the submit button at the top of the left column.I don’t know how you can be involved in any kind of weight loss program or have any kind of weight issue and not have an opinion on this highly rated reality show. Matt was crowned “The Biggest Loser” and deservedly won $250,000 for committing to the lifestyle changes.

End Of Loss
Today John and I started South Beach. I have been researching diets for a few weeks to find the best one for us. The first two weeks of SB is a lot like boot camp where you have to cut out just about everything enjoyable (read sugar/chocolate) and today was really hard but we are hanging in there. John needs to lose weight (even though no one believes me) and I need to drop quite a few. I’m glad I am not going it alone, he hasn’t complained very much (yet). Speaking of weight loss, I absolutely cannot WAIT for the season finale of the Biggest Loser. Probably the BEST! SHOW! EVER! I just hope I have the willpower to follow in their footsteps.

Singing YMCA
We started up the membership four weeks ago after I saw the kind of serious exercise that was possible, even by the severely overweight contestants on “The Biggest Loser” reality TV show. If they could do it without keeling over or having a heart attack, so could I.

Exercise!
Last night I had to really push myself to do my 4 mile walk. I let myself take a nap for 30 minutes then washed my bed sheets and knew that in order to be able to eat dinner and watch The Biggest Loser I would have to be walking by 7PM. By 6:40 I reluctantly put the DVD in and started walking. It was nice to sit and eat my dinner and watch The Biggest Loser. I cried a little bit during the weigh in. I find that show so inspirational.

Weighing In
I had the misfortune of flicking over to The Biggest Loser while I was sulking on the couch last night and ended up watching about fifteen minutes worth, wearing an expression that was probably very akin to horror. And then the anger came. I was specifically peeved about two points that were going down with the weigh-ins.

Reality Check
The good thing about MTV is that they are constantly repeating there shows. Since I do not always get to watch them at night because I am doing homework or am to tired, this is a great advantage. Some shows are competitions where people or families win a lot of money. Fear Factor, The Amazing Race, and The Biggest loser are just a few. On other shows like The Bachelor/Bachelorette and Trading Spaces you have the chance to meet your significant other or redo your home. Reality TV has become a big success and it is quite certain that it is going to be around for a while.

Leftovers
I was watching The Biggest Loser last night. I like that show. Don't ask me why, but I like it. What I don't get is why did I weep when they sent Pete home? I don't get it. (He's cool though, kept losing weight after he went home and in total lost like 126 pounds. Great stuff)

Reality Show Whore™
I’ll tell you one thing though—nobody could possibly be happier if NBC started providing TV content on iTunes than yours truly. As a veteran Reality Show Whore™, being able to subscribe to the series of The Biggest Loser and Martha’s and Donald’s Apprentices (c’mon, you know they’re good) without having to fiddle with my eyeTV and fluctuating show times could just about seal the deal for me to both get a video iPod and consider cancelling my cable. The possibilities are endless..

Observations on the Biggest Loser
I watched a full episode of The Biggest Loser last night while pedaling on my mini-bike after dinner. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but I feel a bit ambivalent about the weight loss numbers the players were posting. It just doesn’t seem right to be sad that you ONLY lost 5 lbs in a week. No wonder there are so many impatient n00bs who get frustrated 2 weeks into any plan.

Beauty And The Geek
I'll admit it, I have found a new guilty pleasure in Beauty and the Geek. This isn't the first reality TV show that I watch. I also like other shows like Survivor, The Contender, Real World/Road Rules Challenge, The Biggest Loser and The Joe Schmo Show. One of the things about reality shows that makes them so compelling to me is that, for the most part, they are filled with real people; people who are capable of doing tremendous things and who also have the tendency to do tremendously stupid things. And let's face it, if you were responsible for casting the participants in such a show, you'd choose the people who get reactions.

The Biggest Loser - Mannix Style!
Click through to find out about the office version.Today I talked (just about) everyone from work into doing our own version of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser”!
As some of you know, I was a hopeful for Season 2. I went to Boston twice in a week to meet with people, spent hundreds of dollars on not only gasoline, but a home video, photos, overnight mailings, etc., signed a contract in DUPLICATE, and then never heard another word. I even called and left messages, asking for any possible info they could give… sent emails… and nothing. (I’m not bitter, just a little disappointed in the way everything was handled. I went from getting 1-2 phone calls a DAY for two weeks, to absolutely nothing.)

NBC Unwraps Next Season Schedule
The new sitcom “My Name is Earl” is being paired on Tuesday with a second season of “The Office,” an adaptation of the hit British workplace comedy that has struggled in the ratings, and a new edition of weight-loss reality show “The Biggest Loser.”
Keep “The Office” and “The Biggest Loser,” but dump “Law and order: Trial By Jury"? And they actually wonder why they’re Number 4? They’ll be wondering why they’re Number 4 this time next year, too.

'Loser' In The Spotlight
If there’s one thing “The Biggest Loser” finalist Kelly Minner avoids, it’s the scale.
“I don’t want to be slave to that scale again,” said Minner, a Pennsylvania teacher who will appear at the Weekend of Wellness in Newberry starting today.
Minner lost 79 pounds and placed third in the NBC reality series, where 12 contestants vied to see who would lose the most weight.
But simply losing weight isn’t what Minner wants. She knows better — scales can vary, as can a person’s water and muscle weight.
What’s most important to her is how she feels.
